The Weekly Room: A Calm Bedroom

The Weekly Room is a series in which I challenge myself to create an idea board from furniture found entirely on Craigslist. All furnishings must be in good condition and only one IKEA item is allowed per board. Unless otherwise specified, furnishings in the Weekly Room can be found in the Chicago Craigslist. All sources are on the Pinterest board, the pins for which are updated weekly as well. If you have a room or city you’d like me to try, let me know.

This week I found a great bed which became the foundation of the room. A bright teal bed isn’t for everyone, but I love the upholstered wing back lines of this piece.

I paired the bed with a lovely soft rug from Flor tiles, along with some velvet chairs in a pale blue. Two dressers, one of which I’d use as a night stand, provide plenty of storage. I might paint the mid-century dresser too. A great pharmacy lamp for late night reading and you’re set. A cozy, soft space to crash. And while you can certainly find mattresses and sheets on the CL, that gives me the heebie jeebies. I’d pick up a good mattress (we found a memory foam one on Overstock for just $300) and some simple white or cream bedding. A pale gray on the walls and you’ve got yourself a finished space for less than $1500. Score!
